Ghost Pipe Tincture: Pain. 2 Oz.
Ghost pipe (or Indian pipe)—Monotropa uniflora—carefully harvested from our own forest. This unique plant grew in such abundance in our woods in 2019, we decided to harvest and tincture enough for one 3L cask. We have never harvested this plant before, will likely not do so again unless it grows as plentifully as it did in 2019.
Ghost pipe has been used as powerful medicine for pain, and as a nervine. We tinctured the immense root structures along with the flowers and stems in vodka, with a ratio of 1:1.
According to Stephen Buhner, plant medicine and lyme specialist: “Indian Pipe tincture combats random bouts of sadness, as well as acute anxiety and panic attacks that result from an overload of sensory data or external input. Therefore, it is often helpful in cases of acute onset of anxiety or panic due to overstimulation from auditory or visual stimuli, which is not uncommon in people with neurological Lyme disease. It may also reduce the anxiety that occurs when a person is trying to process an overwhelming amount of treatment information, thereby enabling them to make more sound decisions regarding what protocol is best suited for their individual needs.”
Herbalist Ryan Drum writes of ghost pipe: ”I believe Monotropa is an underutilized plant. Traditional North American use was apparently as a nervine to relieve symptoms of neurological chemistry disruption and pain. Used to stop seizures, convulsions, insomnia, mental disorders, and chronic muscle spasms.” Read more here.
